While breathtaking beauty- luscious colors, smells of exotic flowers, and fresh foods of Fiji reflects an image of abundance, many rural villages in the Islands lack one of the most basic life sustaining needs; potable water. The process for channeling water from its source to the villagers involves not only supplies and materials for construction and labor to build the water system but also financial resources that local people do not have.
Our mission at Wananavu Kadavu is to partner with underserved communities in Fiji provide the materials needed to bring this fresh spring water into the villages. Working side-by-side with villages, labor is provided by the village. Our project manager works shoulder to shoulder with the community from start to finish.
Among the supplies needed to implement a system for fresh drinking water include tanks from Mota Tank to serve as the reservoir, the size of tank depends on the population of the villages; PVC pipe;wood for framing; rebar; cider block, rebar and cement to channel water from the upstream source and support the tanks; and filters to ensure water purity.
Each village can be proud that they helped bring safe drinking water to their families working together anything is possible.
One village at a time, together we can…
